Town of Hampton
The Town of Hampton, New Hampshire is located in the southeast corner of the state along the shore of the Atlantic Ocean and encompasses 14.2 square miles of land with nearly $4 billion in property. Hampton has a year round population of nearly 16,000 people and a seasonal population of approximately 100,000.
Fire Department
The department operates from two fire stations strategically located in our community and is a full-service life safety organization that exists to serve our customers.
Services
We provide:
- Disaster response
- Emergency medical services (including paramedic level care and transportation)
- Fire suppression
- Hazardous materials incident mitigation
- Prevention and code enforcement
- Public fire safety education
- Technical rescue
- Various types of public services and assistance
- Surf rescue
- Marine Rescue
Staff
The department is comprised of 50 employees consisting of:
- Department Secretary
- Deputy Fire Chief
- Emergency Medical Services Officer
- Fire Chief
- Fire Inspector
- Fire Prevention Officer
- Fire Prevention Secretary
Staff is working twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.
Shifts
Each shift consists of:
- 1 Captain who is the Shift Commander
- 1 Lieutenant
- 1 Fire Alarm Operator
- 8 Firefighters
- 1 Lieutenant
The department maintains a minimum staffing of 1 Captain, 1 Lieutenant, 1 Fire Alarm Operator and 7 Firefighters.
Scope
The department's area of responsibility includes the diversity of emergency responses associated with:
- Densely built and populated areas
- Industrial complexes
- Major interstate highway
- Nearly five miles of Atlantic coastline
- Nearly a half square mile of inland waterways
- Resort beach with its large seasonal population
